Increased CRP, 4 mth baby
Doctor, I know one boy baby (age- 4 months), he is suffering from fever for one week, yesterday we got his blood and urine report. In that there is a case of increased CRP (of 30 points) as compared to normal which should be near by 5 points. I want to know is it a serious problem and what to do now?

Hey, CRP is c reactive protein ,is indicative of infection or inflammation , Usually it signifies underlying sepsis in newborn child. Blood and urine test will be done to know the source of infection . Doctor will cover up baby with antibiotics if blood culture or urine culture shows positive bacterial growth . CRP test is screening test , further tests are required to confirm diagnosis.
