Inguinal Hernia Surgery
Hi, I just went through an open right Inguinal Hernia surgery yesterday. I was willing to go through Lepo Surgery but due to Corona guidelines couldn't go through Lapo. Yesterday after surgery when I was shifted to Monitoring room where I spent some 3.5hrs as my right leg started moving after 3 hours. When I was shifted to General ward I was having pain on in operated area and I was given a pain injection. Today somehow I managed to get up from my bead at around 3pm after wearing a hernia supporter which doctor suggested me to wear for 2 3 months. Is it okay to wear the Hernia supported over the operated area or is it harmful to wear it? How long will the pain remain near the operated area as now also it pains alot when I try to get up from my bed to go to toilet. Thanks

Pain will come done serially over the next few days. After the 2nd or 3rd day you will feel much better. Your surgeon will provide you with discharge medication and pain killers. Please stick to it. You probably will be completely pain free after about 10 days. Hernia support system is not used post operatively by many. It is a surgeon choice and not a must in my opinion.

Dear, Post operative pain after surgery is common, the steps in your history seem appropriate due to the present guidelines. The anesthetic effect wears off and you are feeling what was numbbed. So managing by pain killers, anti inflammatories and support is the right way to go.
Next Steps
I would advice support for 6months with avoiding strenuous force
