you could be suffering from internal derangement of tmj which may have arisen from dental or non dental causes. kindly get examined by a cometetnt maxillofacial surgeon for accurate diagnosis. dont get misled by frivolous persons who claim to treat such problems with hypothetical knowledge. Jaw joint pain is a very complex matter to address and is best addressed by competent maxillofacial surgeons. can discuss the problem in person by visiting a omfs practice.
Next Steps
get your joint physically examined and donot resort to general recommendations of appliance or medications etc which are popularly advocated by dentists.

From how long is this pain present? Do u have pain when u press gently the outer surface of the affected joint? Did u have recent injury? U have to visit a Dental Specialist for examination..
A clinical examination and an x-ray called as TMJ view (in closed and open position) will be required to assess the condition of the joint.
The treatment will be based upon that analysis but will preferably be conservative and interventional treatments like surgical options are kept as the last resort.
Appliances called as night Guards can be fabricated for you and they have to be worn so that the forces being borne by the joints can be cushioned out.
