My wife started her dance (Bharatanatyam) practice 5 months back. She has got severe knee pain for the last two weeks. Consulted with an ayurvedic doctor. He told to reduce body weight. As well as told it could be vitamin deficiency also. Needs doctor's opinion please.

Greetings, sorry about the pain.
The approach is wrong here, body weight will not affect knee, it is an old theory worth ignoring. For now stop dancing atleast until you recover. Usually if core muscles are strong knee will not and should not be a concern.
Next Steps
see a physiotherapist who specialise in posture correction and trigger point therapy, knee pain will get cured. in first 2 weeks pain will reduce by 70% and later until 3 months do exercise as advised by physio, you can return back to dancing.
Health Tips
if for various reasons unable to find solutions do let me know will cure the knee problem.
