Loss of hair and thinning hair
Hello, 6 months back I had typhoid and suffered from the same twice in my childhood as well. I've observered that there is a huge loss of hair from my head. I would like to know whether shaving head would be a good option for the growth of hair or it can resolved by following proper some medication? And I would also like to inform you that I'm going through orthodontic treatment which was started in the month of January 2016. Please suggest your valuable inputs. Looking forward for your response.

Greetings. You are probably suffering from telogen effluvium. This is usually self limiting. PRP therapy is a good option and promising results with same are seen.  You can shave your head if you want to but that is an extreme Step. A diet rich in proteins, fruits and veggies is suggested. .  Discuss with a qualified dermatologist  near you in detail. (Caution: do not be lured by unrealistic claims and offers by quacks who claim to be specialists in trichology n cosmetic sciences or even saloons. Make sure u are treated by a qualified dermatologist). Warm regards,  Dr Govind Suresh Mittal, Bengaluru .
