It could be serious I don't know by what instinct your doctor meant hormone release it's not a good idea as per me.
And as per your picture she is going into hypothyroidism state and may land up in myoedema coma.
By coma word u should understand the seriousness of the illness.
Get urgent thyroid profile done and meet a good doctor.
