You should consult a physiotherapist for proper assessment and diagnosis.if its not getting better with the medicines , dont take too much medicines as it may cause other side effects. you should be treated according to the problem as it can be a disc bulge rather than being a simple muscle pull. it should be checked whether there is any nerve compression or a radiating pain down the leg or any sensation disturbance.
Next Steps
Go to a physiotherapist and take the treatment. Ultrasonic therapy helps in healing of muscle stretched/disc inflamed, heat therapy increases blood circulation and TENS helps in relieving pain,Exercises will increase the muscle strength.Do it for at least 2-3 weeks. You will get the relief for sure.......In chronic cases ,if not responding(no relief at all) after taking physiotherapy, need to go to an orthopedecian.
Health Tips
For back-at home.bed rest for seven days+hot water fomentation+application of pain killer gel..avoid forward bending, weight lifting, cold exposure , stair climbing.long travelling or driving, no prolonged standing/walking/sitting.
This has to be ascertaained whether it is merely a muscular problem or a disc problem. So, an examination is a must. You have to see whether pain is radiating to thigh/leg or fixed at the back. Also whether you have any reduction insensation in any part of thigh or leg. You can try NSAID with Muscle Relaxant & rest by lying down straight in the bed
Next Steps
I would suggest a consultation with me or any other Orthopaedician
Health Tips
Do not bend your back to pick up things. Bend your knees. Do not apply hot fomentation at all. It may worsen the pain
In my opinion you need to go for dry needling technique followed by cold fermentation in this technique a needle is inserted intramuscularly and by that muscle spasm gets relaxed...if u do not find anyone doing this technique as it's a new technique so there are very few Physio's practicing this...you can also go for ultrasonic therapy and LASER therapy and cold fermentation... no exercises till pain subsides... take care get well soon..
Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.
Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day.
Acute backache post heavy weight lifting isbdue to muscle sprain or prolapsed disc inside.you need to take proper rest. Use hard bed. Avoid forward bending and weight lifting.go for physio for a while. Take muscle relaxants and analgesics..be cautious in future and dnt panic itself.
It might take days to weeks to heal.
you should immediately go for physiotherapy treatment specifically Ultrasound and IFT therapy to relieve your muscle pull pain.
In my opinion , once your pain subsides, you can follow exercise regimen as told by physiotherapist.
Hi, as u said u had a bad muscle pull because of heavy weight lifting so I advice you to go for ice fermentation after every 2hrs if possible or three times a day rather then going for hot fermentation ad their will be lots inflammation in the local area along with swelling, apply volini on the local area before sleeping and cover it with a bad sheet..
Next Steps
Go to your physio for further treatment
Health Tips
immobiize the part as much as possible, avoid continuous standing, sleep on one side with pillow between two legs.
