Lower back pain
My mother age 60yrs was having back pain for aprox 5-6 yrs but at this time having severe pain while standing and pain is not receding. Went for the MRI scan and i have attached report with this query. I want to know the exact problem and possible treatment for this condition. thank you in advance......

There is disc prolapse at two levels and along with it there is also listhesis of L4 Over L5 means L 4 vertebra has moved front of L5 vertebra so your mother has both neural compression and instability of the spine and so she will require surgery for neural compression but instability can be treated by physio and strengthening exercises.

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

In my opinion you need to take physiotherapy sessions as soon as possible... so that you get relieved by this excruciating pain...you have involvement at multiple levels..so you need to go for few test like calcium vitamin d vitamin b 12 and uric acid blood test... In physiotherapy you need to go for Tens , Ultrasound , LASER and hot pack... get well soon take care

Hi there...Ensure that she maintain an appropriate posture while working or sitting or walking....Take frequent stretch breaks and drink lots of water...Discontinue using pillow while sleeping straight...Do not lift heavy objects, especially after bending down....Eat a healthy wholesome meal which should satisfy your minerals and proteins requirement...take over the counter pain medications.. Consult nearest neuro surgeon or spine surgeon they will do the needful.
