Minoxidil 5% for beard

Is it safe , applying minoxidil on face for beard growth? There are lot of proven facts on Facebook , reddit etc that it surely assist in proper beard growth . I am just worried about the collagen inhibition by minoxidil. I hope that can be treated and is reversible wid dermaroller and some medication . I am planning to use it on face for 1 year. Also please confirm if minoxidil affect libido at all .
