My mom is 59 yr old. She is diabetic. From few weeks she is suffering from alot of weakness, body pain special shoulder bone also she vomit n have diarrhoea once a week. Kindly suggest

Diabetes, Type 2 SX – polyuria, polydipsia, polyphagia. PE – vitals (BP), signs of dehydration, eyes, feet (pulses, ulcers).
Next Steps
DX – • CBC, CMP (Fasting BS), Lipids, U/A w/ MAU, HbA1C, C-Peptide (low or undetectable). Random BS > 200. Or Fasting blood sugar > 126 on two occasions.
Health Tips
TX – FADE: Foot care, ADA diet, Diabetic teaching, exercise. Manage Cholesterol, BP. Meds: Inc Insulin production: sulfonylureas (eg Glipizide 2.5-20mg PO QD-BID, OR 5-10mg ER PO QD, Glyburide 1.25-20mg PO QD, divided QD-BID, start 2.5-5mg PO QD). Glyburide is more likely to cause hypoglycemia than glipizide. Glyburide should rarely be used in the elderly. Dec hepatic gluconeogenesis: biguanides, eg Metformin 850-1000mg PO BID, OR 1000-2000mg ER PO QPM—> NO if Cr > 1.4, or CHF. • Inc insulin production: Thiazolidinediones [pioglitazone (actos), rosiglitazone (avandia)], monitor LFTs. Referral to Endocrinology for management of Diabetic Complications: Nephropathy: urine protein, BUN/Cr. Neuropathy: sensation testing. Retinopathy: fundoscopy, eye exam, optho. Foot Infections and Ulcers - wound management.

get a HbA1C done to knw abot hr sugar control along with hemogram serum electrolyte vit D estimation LFT,KFT and thyroid function test plenty of fluid to be taken

Hello dear, diabetic patients can have cervical symptoms like pain, numbness of hands and dizziness,vomiting. Regarding weakness it can be due to uncontrolled blood sugar or diarrhea. Kindly follow up with her current medications and blood sugar reports...
