Hi. Bucket handle tear of lateral meniscus? Is this recent or old. If recent injury that is less than 3-6 months and repairable then definitely consider repair of the meniscus. If it's older than that then one has to get it removed. Removing meniscus is not good as it may lead to early onset arthritis as meniscus are shock absorber of knee. But if it's old tear then we don't have any option. I am afraid u might have to consider surgery
Next Steps
Arthroscopic evaluation and meniscus repair /partial menisectomy
Health Tips
Get it done. Quicker the better. But not an emergency

This procedure is repeated several times, alternating hot and cold. Note that the treatment should always end in the ice water, as heat will induce the body's inflammatory response, while cold helps to decrease inflammation.

Bucket handle tear is associated with locking  of joint and pain occasionally. It definately requires Arthroscopic meniscectomy. If ACL tear is present , you may need ACL reconstruction.
