Need to know about HIV
I am sexually active with my partner whose HIV status is not known to me. She had sex with another guy before me on 26th Dec 2015. We started on 15th Feb 2016. So, is it possible to get HIV detected in our case as the windows are very short? Or what precautionary measures should we take to detect it as early as possible? I am getting fevers in every 15 days, so thought of checking it.

Hello, if you have protective measures before having sex you need not to worry ,there is 0.1 %chances of HiV infection through sexual intercourse if female is HiV positive. The window period varies from person to person and also depends upon the type of HIV test. The soonest an antibody test will detect infection is 3 weeks. Most (approximately 97%). But antigen test detect HIV within a week .
