My father has undergone a cataract surgery 15 days ago but can barely see through his eye. Initially doctor said that it could because of corneal or retinal swelling but now that has subsided. We have got his carotid colour Doppler and 2d echo done as per the doctor's instructions to ascertain if blood is reaching the eyeball, but all the reports are ok. Recently got his MRI done and MR angio to examine the nerves but they are also fine. Please suggest what can be a possible cause because the doctor says the Lens is perfectly placed but there is still very less vision and the doctor says he does not knows the reason and can't say how much vision will he regain.

See ... eye is a complex organ
It's rather most complex organ other than brain and there are many factors that play part in vision
Cataract is just an opacification / whitening of your natural lens ... which is treated by surgery
If Lens is properly placed then the decrease in vision could be due to
- pre existing amblyopia ( lazy eye )
- pre existing optic atrophy
- pre existing retinal degeneration etc
