Not able to conceive
I have done ovulation induction 5 times but no success so far. My periods are not regular. Dr. suspects I have PCOS, but my USG reports does not reveal the same. It says ovaries are normal in size. I have done few hormonal tests as well results are as follows: DHEA-S : 340.1, FSH: 8.18, LH: 16.64, Testosterone: 85.98, AMH: 4.5. Tests were done on 10th day of cycle. I have my thyroid normal. Dr. is now suggesting me to go for laproscopy, and says I may need to go for IUI or IVF. My husband's semen analysis is normal. I am really concerned and afraid if my case is very critical. Looking for second opinion Kindly help.

Try IUI with ovulation induction for 3 cycles if your tubes are open. The cumulative pregnancy rate is approx 60 percent. No need for lap at this stage

FSH/LH tests are important tests for diagnosis of PCOS and need to be done on the 2nd/3rd day of cycle. Treatment of infertility in your case would need to be done stepwise starting from basic step of Ovulation Induction with Clomiphene Citrate which I suppose has been done for you. The next step would ideally be to use hormonal injections for Ovulation Induction if not already used. IUI along with Ovulation Induction will increase your chance of conception. Test for tubal patency should be done. Considering your and your husband's reports, it is likely that you conceive with aforementioned treatment. Be patient, don't lose heart. Your case is not very critical and you stand a pretty good chance of conceiving if you follow the treatment pattern properly. All the best and keep us posted!!

Dear Practo user, It is not possible to answer your query completely as more information is required. It is not necessary for polycystic pattern to be seen on ultrasound to make diagnosis of PCOS. There are other criteria as well. In case tubal patency has not been done so far, it is worthwhile to get Laparohysteroscopy done.
