OCD related
I suspect my wife having OCD tendencies. We have been married for 23 years. Initially I ignored it due to lack of awareness on OCD's but since it has started to affect our relationship I started reading materials on this and could relate her behavior to suspected OCD problem. Few e.g. I could think of I am listing it down. Always fear that something will happen to me or my daughter whenever we go out (office, tours, college etc.). Excessive time spent on cleaning things sometimes repeatedly, Aggressive behavior when things are not in place or temporarily out of place in house, very superstitious and ritualistic oriented, very impatient and short tempered etc. She is 45 , I am 49 & we have a daughter aged 20. Myself and my daughter has very little say in matters and to avoid confrontation we let her have things her way. She is very sharp, very observant. She is 5'2" ht and weighs 60 kgs and generally healthy. She takes 2.5mg BP tablet daily and has not other illness like diabetes etc.

Like you would know OCD is a condition where in there is a thoughts which occurs repeatedly in the patients mind and then she/he does something which is quite compulsively done in order to release anxiety caused by the original thought. It is an anxiety disorder and can also have another anxiety disorder along with it. The best treatment would depend on the severity which is again gauged by how functional she is on a day to life how her life is being effected due to this illness on an everyday basis. You can combine a visit to a psychiatrist for medication and a psychologist for counselling. If she is not open to treatment you can convince her to start counselling for general emotional well being.
