Oral Cancer - My Father Was Diagnosed With Stage 3 Tongue Cancer

My father was diagnosed with stage 3 tongue Cancer a year back,got it operated(hemiglossectomy with flap reconstruction) in april last year and received 30 radiations in july.Since then he has been suffering from dry mouth, burning sensation in his oral cavity,pain and dryness in throat and difficulty in swallowing.The pet ct scan report shows that there is a probable recurrence at the reconstructed site.Apart from surgery, what are the ways to deal with the pain and burning sensation?
