OSMF or oral sub mucus fibrosis is a chronic complex disease, wherein the jaws become rigid to the point that person is unable to open the mouth. Biopsy in this case although necessary, is not mandatory. Dentists can pretty much diagnose the condition by oral examination. Tests as such are not necessary, symptoms can give a clue about the onset of the condition, also usually there's a history of the habit of tobacco or betelnut chewing. Treatment includes abstention from betel nut chewing, tobacco chewing, forgoing hot, spicy foods, maintaining proper oral hygiene, including multivitamins esp b complex in the diet n through medicines. Other medicines are to be started which can be done with the guidance of the dentist.
Next Steps
should consult a dental surgeon for proper diagnosis and necessary course of treatment.
