hi ! oral submucous fibrosis is the result of tabacco chewing, and chewing tobacco or nut related things. it is generally called as precancerous stage, that means if it advances it may lead to oral cancer. as you have said that your brother has stopped chewing tobacco few days back, if he can maintain the same, it may not end him up in cancer. coming to treatment, it depends on the stages, if it is in initial stage like just mouth ulcers, elevated papillae etc, he need not go for treatment at all, it subsides gradually after few mnths may be 5-6 but he should never be tempted again for tobacco. if he has any complications like rigidity of mouth, obstinate mouth ulcers, unable to open mouth properly, oral mucosa i.e inner cheeks, hard soft palate etc, then he may require treament. if your interested in homoeopathy you can consult a good homoeopathy ,as homoeo can cure him completely and also cuts of his desire for tobacco permanently if he cooperates with the treatment. or else you can approach an ent surgeon, where the treatment may be from simple antibiotics to laser treatment based on the condition.

This is a highly potent and chronic pre-cancerous condition that affects various portions of the oral cavity as well as the pharynx. It causes progressive fibrosis of submucosal tissues and juxta-epithelial inflammatory reactions. This disease also leads to fibro-elastic changes in the lamina propria along with epithelial atrophy, which results in stiffness of the oral mucosa. It may become impossible to open to the mouth due to the extreme stiffness of the jaw. The name of the condition has been derived from the words “oral” (mouth), “submucosal” (below the mucosa or mucus secreting membrane of mouth) and “fibrosis” (scarring and hardening). Homoeopathy is a holistic mode of treatment which cures by bringing the immune system to normal ,thus a constitutional treatment is indicated  for fast recovery with proper management via the conventional treatment.
