Dear Doc can you please tell us if it is OK for him to take the above tablets.He is having knee pain and after an xray was taken the Doctor said it was starting of age related arthritis. He walks a lot and now has been asked to take a break.

Tablets seems OK to have. Although I m not the right person to make that comment.
I have some other advices..
Firstly let him walk.. If not much, at least a bit to maintain the movement, joints r meant to move not to restrain it.
Go to a Physiotherapist. He would show him some strengthening exercises,with some simple stretches. If required take treatment for some days.
