post extraction pain peaks at about the third or fourth day,and should start improving from there onwards. The exception to this process is when you suffer from a dry socket(which is more frequent in difficult extractions done on lower jaw).If your pain does not start reducing in the next two to three days, please return to your dentist to rule out dry socket.Dry socket has a different treatment requirement.
Health Tips
continue warm salt water rinses, and continue with pain relief medication.

Hi Usually post extraction pain will be there for atleast 1 week . If it's traumatic extraction you might feel bit heavy. Use constant mouthwash and salt water(Rock salt) gargle .Don't allow food to stay there. You can take medicine pack over the extraction site by a dentist .

Depending on how bad the tooth was and how was the extraction, pain may be there upto 10 days after extraction also. But usually the intensity of the pain comes down and you require less and leas painkillers. Do hot water gargles with salt 3-4 times a day
