Pain in Chest & Shoulder
My wife breast feeds our 2 months old baby 6-7 times a day. She has recently developed pain in upper chest, shoulders and neck. She also suffered from Viral fever last month. Is there something to worry or happens for all breastfeeding mothers? What doctor should I consult?

Correct your posture. It's not uncommon. Continue calcium supplements, vitamin d3.You can try hot fomentation. If no relief consult orthopedic or physiotherapist.

Hi, its mostly due to postural. When you breastfeed your baby keep your back straight. Try to sit on a chair and keep pillow below your arm to keep the baby up a bit and feed.Or meet lactation consultant with physiotherapy. She will help you  definitely.

Dear Sir, The symptoms you have described do not occur for every mother, mostly this would be due to a mechanical strain during feeding. Kindly visit your physician (Orthopaedician) and a physiotherapist for examination and advice. Regards, Aditi
