Paresthesia and mild pain:  Right waist
Hi Doctor, Recently my mother is suffering from paresthesia (numbness and tingling) on the right  waist. In that region she also complains of mild pain and feels that area to be a bit swollen up. It does not cause her any pain during normal day to day work. She has been using a hot bag over it for past 1 week and seeing very less improvements. Please suggest what is the best way forward. What could this be? Thank you

Hi ! Your mother's symptoms suggest she is having lumbar spondylosis, a degenerative process of aging causing reduced space between back bones leading to compression of nerves .    That leads to back pain , tingling n numbness in back , also radiates to legs .    In general avoid heavy wt lifting , forward bending and staircase climbing . Can do physiotherapy.
Next Steps
Do a x-ray of lower back and can consult a Neurologist for medication.
