Dry socket happens when there is no or delayed blood clot formation in the extracted socket of tooth.this happens when a.chronically infected tooth is extracted or if the time of extraction is long and so many other reasons a The socket without clot is exposed to.various temperature I  the mouth and as the nerve endings n the bone are not covered by the clot later helpful in new bo e formation.,  there will b excruciating pain         So a alveogyl dressing or gauge with zinc oxide eugenol.cement mix will provide enough insulation and healing base for the bone
Health Tips
do not rinse your mouth for first 24 hrs after extraction this will not only cause extensive bleeding but also dislodges the clot causing dry socket sdnt take hot  beverages or food for the same time as this again dissolves the clot and also causes bleeding

Hello Dry socket takes sometime to heal . The pain may be alleviated by alvogyl dressing. But the dressing has to be changed once in few days as the dressing will get washed off. Using warm water mouth rinse would help .visit your dentist to rule out any other cause. smoking can also cause aggravation of pain and will delay healing. So avoid it if you have the habit.

Hello, Healing of dry socket takes time, especially when the socket of the extracted tooth is not sutured or left open making it a source of food lodgement and infection. Usually alvogyl is used for the treatment of dry socket.
Next Steps
Talk to your dentist for further discussion as frequent change of the dressing speeds the healing process.
Health Tips
Soft diet , warm saline gargles and maintaining oral hygiene should help.
