8 months back I started developing acne and at the same time irregular menses which Is quite irregular from the beginning, but used to get by 45th day. But from 8 months I get once in 2 months. In that two times when I went for treatment I was treated for my other diseases which use to develop during the periods. First time It was throat infection. After treating this , I got date. After two months Urinary track infection, After treating this I got date. So My irregular period was never treated. Acne developed intensely and visited dermatologist. He suggested blood test for all the hormonal imbalance and ultrasound. Result was normal for blood test ! but Ultrasound showed multiple cyst in ovaries, fibroid in uterus, Enlarged ovaries. Now I have to visit gynecologist with this test ! but whom to trust, what if they make to run another 5 times until they collect enough money and leave me with no solution? Its been one year I am suffering! In deep distress ! need advice from an ethicalone

Hi mam. I understand your distress. But not all doctors do that.there are many genuine service oriented doctors even. Now coming to Pcod ie polycystic ovarian disease is syndrome with group of symptoms due to elevated levels of androgens and testosterone(male hormones) in females. Causes include obesity, sedentary lifestyle, family history. Symptoms include irregular periods with/without heavy flow, acne, excess of facial and body hair(hirsutism), dark pigmented dry skin around neck( acanthosis nigricans),difficulty in conceiving..Pcod can be associated with diabetes, obesity, mood swings, heart diseases.. Treatment includes lifestyle change, weight loss, sometimes oral pills to regularize cycles, drugs like metformin also help a lot, for acne topical anti acne agents. For weight reduction follow strict diet with more proteins n less carbohydrates n fats, avoid junk and fast food, have more green leafy vegetables, workout everyday for atleast an hour. Please consult gynecologist if your married and planning for kids. Fibroids are small non cancerous tumors in uterus. It's to be treated if your symptomatic like pain abdomen, excess flow during periods.
