Period exceeding longer than normal
Last month I got the depo-provera shot. A week after that, I got my period and thought it was a normal 5-7 days. My period has been 20 days long. Is this because of the birth control control shot or something else??

YES. Depot provera is usually known to cause irregular cycles. Also due to the nature of the hormone in it namely progesterone, its difficult to cure. Usually if you can sustain the irregularity, the periods tend to become more delayed and finally cause absence of menses. If this is worrisome, you may NOT take the next scheduled injection and switch to condoms. so if you are concerned, meet a gynecologist or nearby doctor. They may prescribe medicines to help arrest the bleeding.
Next Steps
Taking injections like depot provera may help prevent pregnancy but if you have unprotected sex, there are chances of catching infections from your partners. So In such a case condoms are the best as they protect you from the sexually transmitted infections along with preventing pregnancy.
Health Tips
Use a Condom . Always.
