I don't my pelvic ultrasound today as suggested by my dermatologist due to acne. Report says both ovaries are normal in size with few immature follicles. Impression: polycystic ovary variant. I have appointment booked with doc on 25th Oct. I am bit worried with the report. So please if someone explain me what does this mean. Thanks in advance

PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) is the most common endocrine syndrome affecting women of reproductive age (4–18% prevalence rate). Imbalance of hormones is the key reason of all the symptoms related to PCOS. It is more prevalent in women with overweight and obesity (abdominal type). Lifestyle modification-including a minimum of 30 min of moderately intense exercise at least 3 days per week and dietary interventions is the first line treatment. A weight loss of 5–10% has been shown to decrease testosterone concentrations, increase SHBG, normalize menses and improve fertility in women with PCOS. Prevention of excess weight gain should be emphasized in all women with PCOS with both normal & increased body weight. Exercise is more important than diet in long term maintenance of weight loss. Management is done according to symptoms.
