Hi.. The success rate is almost same as normal cataract with good experienced surgeon and newer techniques. Rarely, there could be a mishap. If you are talking about yourself....please take a second opinion if it is a posterior polar cataract or some developmental opacity ...the best way is to look for progression over a period of time . It is not an emergency if vision is not affected much. We have to keep in mind the loss of accommodation and near vision after surgery if we do not implant  a multifocal lens. So, please do not hurry...take couple of opinions before deciding.

With the emergence of new technology  an approx success  rate is more than 80%.however surgery should not be delayed in such types of cataract. If you are facing vision problems especially  in sunlight then you should go for it . And yes it usually  affects young ppl

Posterior polar cataract surgery can be done successfully with good surgical techniques and skills... though there are chances of posterior capsule rupture during surgery as it is weak in posterior polar cataract...but it can also be managed well. It is not emergency for surgery...if it causes too much visual discomfort that causes difficulty in your work then and then go for surgery.

Posterior polar cataracts are associated with preexisting posterior capsular defects which may cause its rupture during surgery and lead to intraoperative complications. However, these complications are manageable and not associated with poor long term outcome. Since this type of cataract is central in position, it leads to early visual problems. So although it’s not an emergency, but your vision will be compromised till the surgery. Posterior polar cataracts are often seen in young patients.

Posterior polar cataract is not uncommon. It is found earlier as central vision is affected & commonly seen in younger individuals. They too have good surgical outcomes, good post operative vision. The capsule is genetically weak & can rupture. All care & precautions are taken by the surgeon. You can wait till it is visually impairing your lifestyle. Keep regular follow up every 6months
