I don't agree with your doctor advice about formula milk. Breastfeeding is always best even for preterm babies. Mixfeeding ( breast+formula) is not good. It will confuse baby and breast milk will come down. You should breastfeed your baby more frequently, 2 hourly or even 1 hourly if required. Give vitamin D 400 units daily If anemic, give iron drops also You should also have given gestation age and birth weight.
Next Steps
stop formula maintain growth chart and check if baby is growing well
Health Tips
keep baby warm

Give your baby more if he or she is showing signs of hunger. Most infant formula-fed newborns will feed 8 to 12 times in 24 hours if only getting infant formula and no breast milk.
Next Steps
But in your case u can give breast feed and formula feed alternatively.
Health Tips
atleast 8feeds/day..

Hi, You can increase the quantity of formula feeds and breast feed on demand
Next Steps
Crying can be due to insufficient milk or stomach pain. Give colicaid drops if crying frequently.
