Query regarding consent form
While advising the colonoscopy or endoscopy, doctors never tell the patients about the procedure and the risk which it carries but before performing the test they make the patient sign the consent form which explains the risk it carries. The consent form of any such test also states that there is a risk of death while performing such procedure. The doctors never tell that a patient has a risk of life too and never discuss anything prior to the procedure. There are many invasive test which are conducted without the signature on any consent form. Why is it that such procedure require the signature of a patient whereas it's the doctor who is advising the test and moreover not explaining the procedure to the patient. They will also perform endoscopy or colonoscopy even if it is not required. What is the significance of the consent form as the hospital staff members do not allow the patient and their attendants to read the consent form and just tell the patient to blindly sign it. Why ?

Hello there.. no one ask you to sign the consent form blindly. Yes in sick state patient is not in state of mind to fully understand the implications or the outcome of procedures but the attendant do understand under their full knowledge they have. Please tell me have your read all the lines written in a insurance form before signing on insurance paper whether life or medical or car or even taking loan. But once you default policy Iapses or claims rejected . Even those insurance forms do state .. in case of death insurance company will not be responsible etc etc. so all invasive procedure carry certain risk of death due to various drug allergies. Be patient trust your doctor. No doctor will advice you any test which is not warranted to reach upto a diagnosis. Diagnosis of a disease is very important for complete healings. Doctor should know what he is treating patient for and patient should know for what is he been treated for. It’s a synergy between doctor and patient .. please maintain that synergy and respect this relationship of mutual trust and faith. Rest all is name of GOD and act of GOD
