Raised sgot and sgpt
My husband has a family history of diabetes n hypertension. Being in defense field he regularly has medicals yearly once. The recent one has been lil worrying in dat fasting sugar is showing as 95 mg/dl even after 12 hrs fasting.hb% is 11; sgot 85 and sgpt is 78..please advise

its a sign of liver is in stress...odr things like sugar n hb is within normal range SGPT is as 2 times as of normal so ds SGPT. It cud be due to excessive alcohol intake. Alcohol is knwn to cz liver damage..if its the case restricting habit wud normalize dese markers. dere are odr reasons too apart frm alcohol fr raised sgpt,sgot
Next Steps
get a lipid profile done repeat fasting blood sugar get HbA1C done which says abot long term sugar control also in LFT Get a GGT done which is more specific of liver damage due to alcohol..in case he hide the habit frm u.
Health Tips
if he is overweight ask him to do regular exercise..which i suppose he must do bein in defense service Get the above mentioned test follow up
