If you have cavity associated with your painful teeth region, usually you will have to get Root Canal Treatment done only after necessary investigations like x rays. RCT will help save your tooth .
In very unusual circumstances like high failure rate even after RCT, then you will have to go for tooth removal.
Always try to retain your natural teeth.
