Day before yesterday i was going through a village road,as it was a raining day so their was water in the road,a truck was coming frm front n it crossed over the water due to that some parts of that road water sprayed on my legs, their was a little cut on my leg by shoe of 2-3days earlier ,but it was covered by black skin and i sawearlier a dog was drinking other water on the road,so i thought he might drunk the same water that sprayed on my legs my truck,so my question is That (i)because the water touched my legs and their was old little wound of 2-3days earlier so Can i get rabies?? (ii)Should i have to take vaccine,is it neccesary to take?? If yes then how many vaccines?? (iii)Earlier i have.taken 12vaccine from 2008-2012,so if i again take vaccine will there be any side effect or reaction???? YESTERDAY I VISITED TO A LOCAL MD DOCTOR HE SAID NO NEED TO TAKE VACCINE,AND DONT THINK SUCH THINGS,AS YOU HAVE VACCINATED EARLIER SO NOW DONT THINK OF VACCINE IT WILL EFFECT YOUR IMMUNITY SEX

Hello there. I can understand your concern and I have already answered your question regarding this twice, if you are not willing to understand by whatever our team has been telling, it's upto you to do whatever you want to. Are you sure that the dog had rabies? Instead of rabies vaccine I think you need psychiatric evaluation. Kindly consult a psychiatrist near you for further evaluation of your condition. You do not have rabies, the dog doesn't have rabies, the rabdovirus isn't able to live outside the living body, then how will you get rabies and how will rabies vaccine help you. Regards. Dr. Anil Kumar Jain.

These wounds are not a matter of concern,if u r worried about rabies. Rabies virus is very sensitive to body fluids and doesnot remain alive in outside environment. Rabies infection is transmitted by saliva, bite exposure from any rabid dog or other rabid animal as bat, cat, monkey, etc. Non bite spread is rarely seen, which depends on time of exposure to saliva or licking or infected materials on scratch fresh wound. In your case, the wound is older, which means even if the water was infected with rabies, than it didnot get access to your body fluids. So rabies infection can't spread inside you. If you are concerned very much about it,than you may check for blood for rabies antigen, direct immunofluorescence study of skin biopsy from your old wound for further confirmation. Let me know your reports,if you find rabies antigen. Take care.
