Hello sir.. Root canal treatment is one which is the conservative treatment to save your teeth..It is not a painful procedure....Yes cap after root canal treatment is necessary .Root canal treat is very weak and brittle so capping should be done to improve its strength and retention.

Cost of root canal treatment varies based on the use of an endodontic microscope, different irrigation systems, rubber dam isolation etc..on an average Root canal treatment would cost you 3.5-4K.. however an Endodontist or root canal specialist who uses extra aids for perfection may charge you on a higher side..Root canal treatment is completely painless as we administer local anesthetic injection before starting with the procedure...Supplemental injections like intraligamentary, intrapulpal can also be given to manage pain while performing root canal treatment. Crown is usually mandatory after root canal treatment as the tooth becomes brittle after the procedure and chances of tooth fracture is quite high in cases where crown is not placed after the root canal treatment..
Next Steps
Get an x-ray done with your dentist and preferably get the root canal treatment done from an Endodontist..followed by cap(crown) for root canal treated tooth..

yess, cap or crown is the most important part of RCT , to ensure the entire tooth conservation . COST can vary from place to place . PAINFUL ? if diligently anaesthetised, done by a skilled doc, NO question of pain . yess, of course underlying infection has to b taken care with right administeration of antibiotics, painkillers

Root Canal treatment would cost somewhere between 3500-8000 depending on the tooth. Pain during the process is usually taken care of with local anaesthetic therefore making the treatment almost painless. Crown /Cap is usually recommended after root canal treatment to increase the longevity of the tooth.
Next Steps
Visit an Endodontist ( Masters in Root Canal ) for further treatment
