Salt restriction
Hello, my bp is 150/100..i m taking prolomet 25mg. Doc said salt restriction diet, This means no salt at all in food or less salt?

Check BP daily till it comes to normal range 120/80. Take medications regularly. Don’t put salt at the table. Whatever is used for cooking is fine, but slowly try to reduce it. Salt restriction can prevent hypertension not treat it. So now you need to take medicine and slowly get over the salt addition. Now the role for salt restriction is to prevent your kidneys from failing!

First thing what is job profile of the patient. What is family history. What are his dietary habits. After this.. His ..investigations. Hb KFT Ultrasound Abdomen BP monitoring for three days...( or ABPM) Only then some medicines can be suggested. Or Some only some life style modifications are required.

5grams of salt per day..including everything that u eat...avoid salty pickles...
