Second time Dengue
Hi Doctors, I have got dengue fever in 2017 July. And here in Bangalore,lots of dengue cases have reported in my locality. My query is,Is dengue fever second time is always fatal? I have two kids ( 5 yrs boy & 3 months old baby girl) I'm worried. Which test is confirmatory test for dengue? Can you please reply so that I will know what to be done

Dengue fever can take place second time. Only haemorragic Dengue is fatal that means when platelets go below 30000 and bleeding occurs inside. Even those cases recover with treatment. So best is prevention. Means proper hydration of self and preventing day time mosquito bite and preventing mosquito breeding. Cleaning the sorrounding from potential mosquito breeds

It's not necessary that dengue fever second time is fatal. Dengue is preventable. Take few precautions such as not having mosquito breeding ground anywhere around the house. Try to cover yourself and your children as much as possible when going out in the evening.  Confirmatory test are PCR and NS1 antigen detection.
