I do have cavity in that teeth.
Getting two views from two doctors.
1) do curettage as roots are exposed which causes sensitivity
2) need to root canal

It is very difficult to comment without seeing clinically and X-ray. Curettage is done for a gum problem, when there is a separation of the gums from the tooth and a pocket has formed. Curettage bring back the diseased/inflamed gum into a healthy condition.
Pertaining to the cavity, that is due to an internal problem of the tooth due to tooth decay. So, at what stage your tooth disease is, needs to be evaluated. If it’s is advanced, both the treatments might be required
Next Steps
A proper diagnosis of your complaint needs to be set up after clinical and X-ray examination
Need to clinically and radiographically evaluate. Always remember that if the cavity is deep and touching the pulp area ( which dentist can decide after seeing the X ray and can also explain you) then you require a Root canal for sure but for anything an x ray is the most important thing to come to a proper diagnosis.
Next Steps
get an X ray done first
Health Tips
Always go the conservative way first and sort the problem but for anything a right treatment plan is very important with the help of the right diagnostic aids.
If you have a cavity which is deep you will require a root canal treatment. If it is a combined endo perio lesion then perio treatment is also required. Clinical examination and X-ray is required to give you proper advice
