2 days ago in a minor bike accident, my right midfoot suffered the impact of falling bike causing me instant severe pain and considerable amount of swelling. I immediately underwent an x-ray of the same in which no bone fracture or disalignment was indicated. As per advice given, I've constantly applied icepacks. Although swelling has subsided by about 50%, constant pain has made it nearly impossible for me to walk. Please suggest remedies and whether I should get another x-ray done.

Hi there.. I understand your concern. Swelling of foot could be due to fracture, ligament injury, soft tissue injury.. there seems to be no obvious fracture in your foot.. so swelling and pain is due to soft tissue injury due to bike falling on foot.. treatment includes hot fomentation which increases blood flow and flushes out pain causing chemicals. And ice packs-reduce swelling.. apply local gel or spray containing diclofenac. While sleeping foot end elevation wit help of pillows below the foot reduce swelling.
