I feel alone a lot of the time and when I am with people I feel awkward. I think I lack friends because I am not able to hold on to many friendships. I have a dysfunctional family and often feel that noone loves me for who I am and I am all alone in the world.

Hi,
I understand your concern and distress regarding establishing and maintaining interpersonal relations and feeling of loneliness. This can be a part of personality trait/disorder especially if its there since you have grown up and you dont exactly know when did it all start. The second possibility is a mood disorder especially if all these feelings and thoughts started in last few weeks/months. So in your best interest, a consultation with psychiatrist can confirm the diagnosis and a treatment/management plan can be formulated. Yes, there are possibilities of improvement/betterment whatever the condition it is!
Next Steps
consult a psychiatrist in-person or via teleconsultation
