Statin Issues
I am taking Pitavastatin 2mg since almost a year. I am also on Levothyroxine dosage of which I keep updated in almost every 3 months with the help of my doctor. My recent Lever Function test shows my AST and ALT levels are slightly higher. Also my FBS raised to 103 which 6 month ago was 92. Doctor in the lab suggested these may be side effects of Statin. My Cholesterol level are currently under control (Total Chol- 120mg/dl). I am having sleeping issues also since a month. Please suggest.

Yes it’s is well know statins can cause diabetes in obese or pre diabetic patients. So if u do not have any high risk can stop the statins as cholesterol is normal already. Liver AST and ALT is elevated due to fatty liver again it is weight associated issues. Instead of taking medicines its advisable to start on life style changes like exercise regularly maintain ideal weight and maintain good healthy diet.
