I have been diagnosed with tight hamstring in both legs as I get pain when I walk more than 1.5kms and while getting up in the morning time like 7-8am. Is it advisable to wear stockings? Currently I'm doing the hamstring stretches as directed by physio. I have this condition for the past 4-5months.

Tight hamstrings cannot be your only diagnosis in majority cases, but infact is a secondary symptom due to any underlying condition of your lumbar spine or sacroiliac joint or hip joint. Also correct assessment followed by correct exercise/stretching routine will be more beneficial than the use of stockings.
Next Steps
Gluteals as well as calf muscles stretching is advisable along with hamstrings stretching as the muscles work in a chain.
Health Tips
Visit your Physiotherapist again before starting with any other exercise/stretching that has not been advised initially.
Yes it is advisable to wear stockings for hamstrings but not for prolonged time. Check for deficiency in the body, keep hyderated your self, physical exercises to keep hamstrings strengthen will be helpfull.
Tight hamstring on both sides could be a pelvic dysfunction, sacroiliac joint dysfunction.
Hamstring exercises and mobilization of the pelvis could help. Other restriction factors like hip rotation, stiff ankle and similar issues could also be the issue. So a good assessment would help....

*skins could help with activity temporarily, but its a good idea to get it checked
