Strep dehydration and pain
Hello, I was prescribed penicillin for strep throat two days ago. I am in severe pain and swallowing has become unbearable, I choke on my own saliva and I can’t get any sleep because the pain of swallowing wakes me up. I have lost a lot of weight already but I’m more worried that I am becoming dehydrated because I can’t swallow any fluids. What should I do? I can’t use my voice at all. Thank you, -Sita

You seem to be suffering from acute pharyngo-tonsillitis which is a common type of throat infection. Along with antibiotic you may need to take analgesics and antiseptic mouth gargle for few days
Next Steps
Consult nearby ENT specialist for confirmation of diagnosis and appropriate treatment if required
