STRESS ECHO
Will it be risky for a patient wid stable angina and hypertension to undergo Stress echo? Being delayed as patient standing bp is very high at hospital.. What other testing can we do instead of waiting for months for bp to be better? Can MRi angiography/ ct angiography help in this case for definite diagnosis

Hi There are few things here 1. If stable angina is diagnosed more or less it's acceptable there is coronary artery disease barring few conditions. Then what we need to establish is, how bad are the blocks and if so how much of the heart muscle is at risk. To diagnose if there are any blocks one can undergo ct Angio or conventional Angio. Tests to assess how much heart muscle is at risk are stress echo, nuclear scan or cardiac MRI with perfusion. 2. High blood pressure should be adequately treated in patients with and suspected CAD.
Next Steps
adequate blood pressure control followed by one of the above tests. Please discuss with your doctor on above lines.

Hello, Is angina already diagnosed or just suspected ? If its just suspected then you need to have a functional testing for its confirmation like stress echo . Angiography won’t tell you functional status of the problem. Stress echo should only not be done in case of ongoing chest pain or very high bp to start with Take care

Hi, stress echo should not be done in pt with on going chest pain. Ct angiography is better than stress echo. Monitor pt bo and use right medication as it is a risk factor for cad. Take care. Needs evaluation with complete history.
