Strictures in throat
My mother is having prolonged issue of swallowing food . We recently did Gastrograffinn swallow test and the report shows evidence of small segment narrowing involving cervical oesophagus ? Benign. We are concerned and we would like to know what should be the next step and which specialist we should consult for her issue. I understand we must do an endoscopy and biopsy to confirm the tumour is benign . Consulting a gastroenterologist is the right direction ?

Upper GI endoscopy can be diagnostic and also therapeutic. Most of the it is a web or a structure which can be dilated after a biopsy.
