Suffering from dry eye
As an IT professional I have to work 8-9 hours in front of PC. This cause lots of strain and sometimes irritation in my eyes . Once I visited the eye care camp in my office , he told me I am suffering from dry eye and suggest me one eye drop which I forgot. Please suggest me some eye drop which can give me relief from this.

Hello Prolonged working on laptop/TV/mobile can cause computer vision syndrome. Computer vision syndrome is a condition resulting from focusing the eyes on a computer or other display device for, uninterrupted periods of time. Some symptoms of cvs include a. Headaches b blurred vision c. Neck pain d redness in the eyes e. Eye strain f dry eyes sometimes watery eyes these symptoms can be further aggravated by improper lighting conditions. Measures to reduce this include 1. Work under proper light. 2. Blink a lot. 3. Cold compresses 4. Use good lubricating eyedrop

Most of the IT professionals are suffering with from dry eye or also known computer vision syndrome. The blinking rate is reduced from 24 per minute to  8 per minute when working on computer or smartphone. In Air conditioned room, the blinking rate also reduces due to less humidity  which is another factor contributing to it.
Next Steps
Please blink blink blink . Try to have normal blinking ,while working on computer. Please use lubricating drops as frequently as possible. eg Refresh liquigel or genteel eye drops or Systane ultra eye drops.

Hello there.  I can understand your concern.  You have to understand that the eye drop is not a permanent solution for your problem. Take frequent breaks and shut your eyes for 5 minutes every hour. You can use eye drops like OnTears 1 drop in both eyes 5-6 times a day. Consult a ophthalmologist in person for further evaluation and management. Best regards. Dr. Anil kumar jain. Bangalore.
