Suspected typhoid
Is 400 mg cefixime 2 a day = 800 mg along with 500mg azithromycin twice a day =1000 mg treatment standard? Can it be taken or is it high dose?

There is no role of 2 antibiotics in Typhoid. Only one antibiotics is required either Azithromycin or cefixime . Dose is correct cefixime 400 mg and Azithromycin 1 gm But duration must be 14 days if diagnosis of Typhoid is correctly made clinically and by lab test. If there is a doubt in Typhoid Diagnosis 7 day treatment is sufficient. No scientific proof for using two antibiotics
