According to the history of events mentioned above by you, you seem to have injured your right ankle joint. Injury around the ankle joint could be either a bony injury(fracture) or a soft tissue injury or combined bony & soft tissue injury. The picture provided alongwith, looks more in favour of a soft tissue injury since the pain is reduced and you are able to walk. But the possibility of fracture can not be completely excluded as there can be a hairline fracture and still you would be able to walk. So firstly, you should avoid running as the ankle joint has been hurt and needs rest and respect. Ideally, you should nit be putting weight over the foot. But if your work required you to be active all the day long, You should be wearing sports shoes all the time, which have a proper soft sole so that your ankle can rest. Along with that wear an ANKLE BINDER so that there is minimum ankle movement and hence the ankle joint gets some rest. When you are at home, keep the leg elevated by putting 2-3 pillows below the ankle so that the leg raises above the level of heart. As far as medications are concerned, you should be taking medications that can reduce the inflamation and swelling and along with it, decrease the pain and discomfort caused. The treatment shall be continued for around 2 weeks following which the weight bearing can be started as tolerated by you. Also start with hot water fomentation(add a little salt to the bucket of water) after 2 weeks of rest. At present, you should be doing cold compression using ice packs till 72 hours of the injury, beyond that you should just give rest to the ankle joint. Also get a xray done of the ankle joint to rule out any frature. For any other querries, you can always contact me.
Next Steps
Sports shoes, limb elevation, analgesics and anti-inflamatories. Xray of the ankle joint
