Cases of implants are selective i.e.patients should not be suffering from certain diseases. If not he can go for implants. No need of extracting natural teeth. The implants can be placed where the teeth are missing. Its depends upon the dentist and the lab how good the crown is fabricated so that it could not be distinguished with natural teeth.

Dear Practo User,
As you said your father still have few teeth left. First of all those teeth have to be assessed thoroughly. A final decision on retaining or extracting those teeth can be taken only after that.
As of Implant Supported teeth are concerned, it is the best you can gift to your parents.

Tooth Implant can be done to replace even single tooth or multiple teeth.
First get an OPG X ray done for your father to check for the availble status of the bone present. get some needed investigation done like blood sugar, Bt, Ct test done and then plan for Implant as suggested by your dentist.

U need to get his dental health examined, his remaining teeth assessed.. only after a thorough examination can a dentist decide whats best suited for him.. all the best
Implants can be done with a good planning , the natural teeth in good condition can be savedwhile missing can be planned to restore via implant however xray examination is a must before coming to a plan
Your query is not very clear in its description...... the best option for you would be to go for a proper clinical examination..... the various treatment options can be explained to you only after assessing the condition of the remaining teeth.... Regards.....
