Normally a tooth filling is fine if it's in the correct level within the parameters of the decay involved etc. But if the tooth decay is extensive and reached the vital tissue or in other conditions were it's deemed necessary then RCT is the choice.

Hi if infection has not reached to the root then only filling is sufficient  no need of RCT so your dentist must have evaluated and then only he must have done filling so don't worry
