I've had slightly yellow teeth for the past 10 years. I have been incessantly brushing twice a day for the past 2-3 years. Teeth are instead turning slightly more towards a darker shade of yellow.
I'd like to understand the cause of this. Further, I'd like to understand the process for having whiter teeth.

Yellowish discoloration of teeth might be bacuse of a lot of reason.
1. Food stains
2. Fluorosis
3. Erosion
So we need to first rule out the cause of the discoloration and then the treatment can be planned according to that.
Pictures of the discoloured teeth will be helpful.

Your description suggests me of erosion.
Could be because of hard brushing or brushing for longer hours.
May also be fluorosis
Pls post picture of your teeth. That will help to elicit the cause.

Hello
Discoloration of teeth depends on a lot of factors like food habits, tea, coffee consumption, smoking etc. We need to take proper history to find out the main reason of yellowish discoloration. Treatment can be done by doing ultrasonic cleaning and polishing along with whitening if required.
