Hi there...many causes for throat pain like upper respiratory tract infection, tonsillitis, cervical lymphadenopathy, submandibular gland inflammation. Sometimes simple upper respiratory tract infection can cause local lymph nodes to enlarge and this could be causing the pain. It will take sometime to resolve. Also any associated symptoms like swelling, inflammation, sputum discharge will help come determine if the infection resolving. It will require clinical examination. So kindly consult Ent specialist for further evaluation. Till then you can try saline gargles. Will give you temporary relief. Drink plenty of fluids.

Hello there. i can understand your concern, but its a very little history for us to work with. what medications has he taken? and for how many days? instead of consulting anyone else, consult a ENT surgeon and get examined by him, he may require a few tests like throat swab culture and sensitivity. in the meanwhile, ask him to do betadine throat gargles as per the instructions on the bottle. best regards, Dr. Anil kumar jain
